Data Protection
You are able to obtain a copy of information held about you by
Essex Police using a right known as Subject Access.
Subject Access is commonly used by an individual to obtain a
copy of their Police National Computer (PNC) record or to confirm that
they do not have a PNC record.
However Subject Access is not just limited to PNC information.
You have the same rights in respect to information held by Essex
Police on other systems known as Essex Police Local Systems.
PNC
The PNC is a
national information system that holds details of people, vehicles,
crimes and property that can be electronically accessed by the
police and other criminal justice agencies.
Applications are accepted by Essex Police and then forwarded on
to the
ACPO
Criminal Records
Office (ACRO) which provides a
response within a 40-day statutory deadline.
Each application costs £10 and applicants are required to prove
their identity before they can be processed.
