Key Holders
Key holders are people we can contact if there is a problem with
your premises and we are unable to contact you.

Registering for our key holder scheme will help us
contact a responsible person without delay in the event of any
incident which has left your premises insecure or caused the alarm
to activate.
How do I register?
The service is free but you need to register by completing a form
and returning it to us. You can download it or pick one up at your local police station.
The first page asks for details of your premises, your contact
details and phone numbers for the people you have chosen to be
contacted in your absence.
The second page asks you to give us consent to board up doors or
windows in the event of an incident which has left your premises
insecure and vulnerable.
All of these details will be stored on an Essex Police
database.
If your alarm is monitored remotely by a certificated alarm
receiving centre, there is no need to submit your details for our
database. In this case, we will contact the receiving centre
directly who will supply keyholder details to us.
What about Data
Protection?
We have a responsibility under the Data Protection Act to ensure we
only hold information that is up to date and accurate.
As a result we ask you to submit a form once a year to confirm
the details on the database are still correct. If we do not receive
this we will consider your existing database record to be out of
date and the records will be automatically deleted.
Unfortunately we are not able to issue reminders or notify you
of the deletion.
If your circumstances change you must submit another form
informing us of any new details. Please mark the appropriate box on
the form as AMENDED.
