Crack Cocaine
Crack cocaine is a Class A drug.

It’s a type of cocaine processed into a form that can be smoked
or injected by chemically altering cocaine powder to form crystals
or rocks.
Crack cocaine is a stimulant and very addictive. It causes huge
increases in heart rate and blood pressure and can lead to
aggressive behaviour.
Smoking crack can cause breathing problems and permanent lung
damage.
How can I recognise it?
Crack is made into small lumps about the size of
a raisin which make cracking noises when burnt. It’s usually smoked
in a pipe, plastic bottle or in foil but can be made into a liquid
for injecting.
You might hear crack referred to as base, stones, wash or
pebbles.
What’s the law?
Class A drugs are thought to be the most harmful and carry serious
penalties for possession and dealing.
The maximum penalty for possession of crack cocaine is seven
years imprisonment, an unlimited fine or both.
The maximum penalty for dealing crack cocaine is up to life
imprisonment, an unlimited fine or both.
