Essex Police Headquarters is based in Chelmsford and is home to
Essex Police College where our new recruits are trained.
It’s not a working police station but houses various departments
including human resources, corporate development and legal
services.

From M25 junction 28
Take the A12 and exit
at A1114 towards Chelmsford. After two miles, avoid the flyover and
turn right at the Army and Navy roundabout. Then take the first
exit at the next roundabout and turn left at the traffic lights
into Sandford Road.
From M11 junction 7
Take the A414 to Chelmsford and cross the Army and Navy roundabout
(driving under the flyover). Then take the first exit at the next
roundabout and turn left at the traffic lights into Sandford
Road.
From M11 junction 8
Take A120, followed by the A130 and then the A138 through
Chelmsford town centre. Avoid the flyover and turn left at the Army
and Navy roundabout. Then take the first exit at the next
roundabout and turn left at the traffic lights into Sandford
Road.
By bus
Eastern National routes 52 and 54
stop close by in Springfield Road and route 47 drops off in
Sandford Road.
By train
Chelmsford is on the main Liverpool Street to Norwich Line.
Parking
Most roads surrounding Essex Police headquarters are resident
only parking although there are some marked areas where the
restriction only applies between 2pm and 3pm.
Sandford Road has some unrestricted on-street parking.
