2SMART roadshow is a hit
Young people from schools across Tendring were the first to see
2SMART 2010 when the tour started in Clacton last week.
2SMART is an Essex Police project which aims to give young people
advice about bullying, alcohol, drugs and knives via music, dance,
sport and drama.
Almost 2,000 year seven pupils saw the 2SMART 2010 show at The
Princes Theatre, Clacton.
Pupils from Clacton County High School, Tendring Technology
College, Clacton Coastal Academy and The Harwich School attended
one of two showings on the day.
Chief Inspector Jon Hayter, district commander for Clacton, said:
“The event was a great platform for us to take the 2SMART message
out to a wide audience. It gave us an opportunity to engage with
young people and their families while speaking about the dangers of
bullying, alcohol, drugs and knives.

Pupils from around Essex are being invited to write a song for
the 2SMART tour 2011. The 2SMART team will judge all entries and
select a winning song which will be performed at all 2SMART 2011
shows. Entries can be submitted on the 2SMART website.
The website also includes competitions to win tickets to a
Southend United game, a trip to the Essex Air Ambulance helicopter
base, and a Nintendo Wii.
The University of Essex, Children’s Trust Approach in Essex and
Heart are the sponsors for the 2SMART tour 2010 and
around 15,000 young people are expected attend the shows
throughout Essex this year.
