2SMART party
Year Eights from Chelmsford County High School for Girls' (CCHS)
got a special 2SMART party with a star from the 2SMART
roadshows.

Basketball player Nav Oojageer attended the school in Broomfield
Road on Thursday, March 11 to put on a 2SMART party which involved
lots of DJ-ing, games and dancing.
They received the prize after entering a competition at last
year’s 2SMART roadshow.

There was a great atmosphere at the party and it
was a great way to bring some of the 2SMART spirit away from the
roadshows and into the community.

2SMART is an Essex Police project which aims to give young
people advice about bullying, alcohol, drugs and knives via music,
dance, sport and drama.
Jo Van Zanten, youth development coordinator at Essex Police,
said: “There was a great atmosphere at the party and it was a great
way to bring some of the 2SMART spirit away from the roadshows and
into the community.
“We find that 2SMART is a great way for Essex Police to
communicate directly with young people and their families,
educating them about important issues. Just as importantly, 2SMART
provides young people with examples of what they can do if they, or
their friends, experience such behaviour.
“It is all about building a relationship with the young
people.”
