Martyn Grimwood, 33, of Epping Way, Witham, died at Broomfield
Hospital in Chelmsford following a collision in Braintree Road,
Witham on Sunday, April 4.
Mr Grimwood, who was raised in Kelvedon, had been a passenger
in a taxi car and was found in the road with serious head
injuries.
Martyn lived with his father and younger brother Matthew and
attended St Mary's School in Kelvedon and Honywoods in Coggeshall
before going onto higher education.
He was a civil engineer and had worked for over four years at
Maunsell based in Witham. As a qualified civil engineer, he
was involved in Capital Highways which was based, until recently,
in Coggeshall.
Recently Martyn had gone on a charity trip to Croatia for three
weeks, using his skills as a civil engineer to help build an
orphanage. The conditions out there touched Martyn and he was moved
to tears as a result of what he saw. He also cycled the length of
Hadrian's Wall to raise funds to build a hospital wing for
leukaemia suffers.
In his spare time Martyn played football for the Braintree
old boys and loved snowboarding.

He was very self
motivated and wanted to be the best he possibly could at everything
he did.
Jean Upson
His mother Jean Upson said: "Martyn's proudest achievement was
his civil engineering degree. He had worked hard to finance his
education and worked his way through his degree.
"He was very self motivated and wanted to be the best he possibly
could at everything he did."
"Martyn loved his nieces and nephew who in turn idolised him.
Martyn would do anything for you and was good in a crisis and would
go out of his way to help people. He was very loyal to both his
friends and family.
"We are very proud of Martyn and love and miss him very much."
The investigation in to the collision continues and witnesses
are asked to contact officers at Dunmow road policing unit on 0300
333 4444.
