Gordon Grieve Warner
After his initial period of service at Headquarters Gordon was transferred to Chelmsford from 20th May 1939. He married Hazel on 2nd June 1941. On 11th August 1941 Gordon joined the R.A.F. He was one of several former Essex policemen who underwent training in the U.S.A.
He was killed on Wednesday, 25th November 1942 as a result of a flying accident in the U.S.A. whilst training. At the time he was Leading Aircraftman (Cadet) 1388010 with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. At the time of his death Gordon's widow and six-month old daughter were living in Oulton Broad, Suffolk.
He was buried in Section N, Lot 109, Grave 5 at the Montgomery (Oakwood) Cemetery annex in Alabama, USA.
