Philip George Saban
Southend-on-Sea County Borough Constabulary.

Served from September 1914. Died on 2nd November 1917.

Born in Great Hallingbury on 26th July 1893, he was baptised at the village church on 13th September 1893, the youngest son of William, a labourer, and Emily Saban of 94 Woodside Green, Great Hallingbury, Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire.

Philip joined the Southend Borough Constabulary in September 1914 and lived in Westcliff-on-Sea. He decided to enlist, in Southend, in December 1915 and served for 19 months as Gunner 126544 in ‘Y’ Battery of the Royal Horse Artillery.

He was wounded in action on Thursday 1st November 1917 and died in a French hospital the following day at the age of 24.

He isburied in grave IX. A. I at Grevillers British Cemetery in Pas de Calais, France.
