Education
The
Essex Police Museum has a variety of free education sessions for schools
linked to the National Curriculum requirements for History and Citizenship
and QCA schemes of work. All sessions are accompanied with preparatory
and follow-up activities. Each session includes time to view the museum
displays.
As part of the Heritage Lottery Fund project Essex Police Museum hired
an education consultant to develop 8 new education sessions aimed at Key
Stage 1 & 2 children.
- These sessions are FREE and available to all schools; each visit to
the Museum lasts approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.
- Maximum 30 children per session.
- Coach drop off area available.
- Packed lunch may be eaten in the nearby park if fine or in the museum
if wet.
Coaches too expensive?
The museum understands that for some schools it may be difficult to arrange
a trip to the museum and therefore the museum can come to you. Alternatively,
sessions can be loanedto schools and delivered by the class teacher. Teacher's
notes, resources, and prep and follow up activities are available for
all sessions; please contact us for full information.
More than one class?
We cater for a class of approximately 30 children at any one time. for
a coach of two classes you can alternate between your session and a trail.
Please see the column opposite for details about our two trails.
