Volunteer Recruitment Day
Saturday, 13th June, 2015 10:00am to 15:00pm

We are inviting potential volunteers to join us on June 13th to find out more about volunteering.

We are looking for volunteers to help look after its visitors during the week and on Saturdays. The museum aims to tell people about the history of Essex Police and it relies on its volunteers to provide assistance to visitors during its opening hours.

Working as part of a team, volunteers will be required to work shifts on Saturdays from 9.30am and 4.00pm, greet visitors, record visitor statistics, run the museum shop, assist with children’s trails and help with general museum house-keeping.

During the rest of the week the museum is open in the daytime for schools and in the evening for groups such as the WI, U3A, Scouts, Girl Guides etc.

Museum curator Becky Wash says: “This is a wonderful opportunity for anyone with an interest in museums or policing and working with the public. Whether you are a student wishing to gain work experience or retired with some free time to spare, volunteering at Essex Police Museum can help you gain new skills and provides a valuable service for your local community.”

Expressions of interest should be made to Becky Wash by email to museum@essex.pnn.police.uk.

Volunteers must be aged 18 or over and will be asked to commit to working at least one four-hour shift a month.

Applicants will be interviewed and subject to police vetting, those who are successful will be given training as necessary.
