Charges for family history and other research work
The Essex Police Museum provides a service for any research or family
history enquiries. All the services below are available by contacting
the museum curator either by phone on 01245 457150 or by writing to Becky
Wash, Museum Curator, Essex Police Museum, PO Box 2, Headquarters,
Springfield, Chelmsford, Essex CM2 6DA.
All cheques should be made payable to Essex Police Museum.

Records of Service
*The Museum holds the following indexes (both manual and computer) on
the following;
- Police officers in the Essex County Constabulary from the 1880s to present day
- Police officers who served in the Colchester Borough Police and transferred to the Essex County Constabulary in 1947
- Police officers serving in Southend Borough Police 1914 – 1969
- Police War Reserves – World War II
- Women Police Auxiliaries – World War II
These indexes will provide basic details concerning an individual, such as date/place of birth, dates of service, commendations, misconducts, sickness, training, pay, reason for leaving and rank held
Data Protection
The release of information is strictly controlled. Nothing is released on personnel who are still living unless written permission is granted by the individual giving authority to release such information.
