Update

Anti-social behaviour at Grange Road Shops is on the increase with youths congregating outside - shed burglaries have decreased in ward as a whole. Reminder if you would like a uv pen to mark your property please come to the police station and get a free pen.

As the weather is getting better supposedly! and people are leaving their windows open at night time can we remind you that if you are going to leave them open can they be locked open and to make sure that back doors are locked. Just recently we have been noticing an increase of theft from motor vehicles whereby people are having windows smashed to their vehicles and sat navs and handbags removed from back and front seats. Please make sure that all valuables that you must leave in a car - which is not the above ones - should be hidden from view to stop the opportunist damaging your vehicle and stealing your property.

If you work or own a farm in the area we are trying to get farm watch up and running so please contact us or the crime reduction officer Lorna Watson at Basildon Police Station for further information.

Burglaries are on the increase in the area - please make sure that you have doors and windows secure and recent burglary entry points have been via near open or insecure back doors.

Shed burglaries have increased in the Burstead area.
Six of these are from garden shed's most of which were not secured. Please lock and secure your garden outbuildings as these are now a priority target for Burglars. If possible fit security lighting with PIR's to cover your sheds.
Please think about your security, close and secure your gates and outbuildings. If the buildings are away from the main residence close off access routes.
If you see anything suspicious call the Police immediately.

Please ensure that the windows and doors to your property are secured properly. If you have a five lever lock on your front door push the handle up and lock it from the inside. This engages and sets all 5 locks and not just the one central door lock making it much harder to force entry. Make sure you keep the key well away from the door out of sight. Make sure your family know where it is kept in an emergency.

If you have side/rear access to your property, ensure that it is locked when not being used.

Please hide your car keys from view when you are at home.

Some burglaries are carried out using a pole through your letter box to simply hook your keys out of the house whilst others are carried out by physically entering your home with the intention of stealing your vehicle.

Have a look at our Be Safe section of the website – it has a whole host of advice to keep you, your family and your property safe.

Burglaries are on the increase across the district and we would remind people to make sure that they do not leave their house and car keys on display so that people looking into your property can see them. As it is coming up to christmas and people are putting up their christmas decorations and your curtains are open this can give the opportunist to look into your house and see what valuables you have on display.

Burglary is on the increase within this Ward in particular in the area of Tye Common Road, Frithwood Lane, First and Scond Ave, Scrub Rise and surrounding roads. The majority of these burglaries have been where car keys have been removed from the premises and the car on the drive stolen. We would remind you to make sure that if you have UPVC windows and doors ensure that they are in the locked position ie for doors handle is up all locks engaged and door looked and key out. Make sure that you car keys are not easily in view inside your property.

Operation Saxby is running at the back of Billericay School in Noak Hill Road to try to decrease the risk of injury to pedestrians and the constant obstruction by vehicles at school times and the parking within the bus stop.

You can take action in a number of ways to help make your neighbourhood a safer place to live, work and visit.
