Below you can read about the issues that you have made a priority in your neighbourhood. We aim to act on the issues that matter the most to you.

Local Priority

Issue

Local residents, businesses and members of the public using the area of Staceys Corner shops, Long Riding and Timberlog Lane have raised concerns about the level of anti-social behaviour committed by youths hanging around. They feel the youths using the Shop area are responsible for the noise, rubbish including broken bottles, and general anti-social behaviour that is having a significant impact on the use of the Shops and the quality of life for local residents.

Action

We will carry out high visibility and covert patrols in the area to prevent and detect crime as well as gathering intelligence on persons engaging in criminal behaviour and anti social activity. The anti-social behaviour team will be contacted and any identified person involved in nuisance behaviour will be subject to a multi agency approach dealing with their behaviour with the implementation of Acceptable Behaviour Contracts. Any person identified being involved in criminal offences will be dealt with robustly by Police and zero tolerance will be adopted when dealing with offenders. 18/01/12 8 youths have been stopped after climbing on the roof of the parade of shops, letters have been sent to parents advising them of what their children are getting up to. High Visability Patrols are carried out on a daily basis and shop keepers are often spoken to Their have been no complaints regarding anti-social behiour for a few weeks but patrols will continue.

Update

Recent successes:

We recently had a significant result with a search warrant conducted on St Martins Ward where two occupants were arrested and the premise a ‘Squatters Drug Den’ was boarded up.

St Martins ward has continued to reduce reported levels of crime and anti-social behaviour in comparison to the same period on the previous two years.

Police have continued to make arrests and significantly disrupt the offending patterns of the prolific offenders currently living and offending in St Martins Ward.

Current issues:

The Neighborhood Policing Team for Nethermayne ward has changed. Due to a large reform of Essex Police the way in which Neighborhood Policing of the area is conducted has been re designed. We now have a new Sergeant and a small team of 6 officers parading from Billericay responsible for Policing Basildon West. PC 72813 HAY will remain the Neighborhood Constable for Nethermayne and St Martins working closely with our five Police Community Support Officers to be the point of contact for members of the public.

Check the events tab for upcoming Neighborhood Meetings and Events in your area.

Crime prevention advice:

Burglaries of residential properties and outbuildings and vehicle crime have over the past six months been on a continual rise throughout the Basildon area. This is an area of crime which you can help to reduce. Please ensure you do not leave your valuables visible or your premises vulnerable to Burglars.

If you see anyone acting suspiciously please call Police so that we can identify problem areas and disrupt the activities of offenders within the area you live.

Police are working hard in your area to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour and any assistance from you is extremely helpful in identifying and targeting known offenders.

Did you know that you can register for free any property which has a serial number?

If you create an account on www.immobilise.com you can register any property, such as mobile telephones, power tools, televisions and computers.
If your property is lost or stolen and then recovered Police can identify its owner by checking a police only database.

It takes a couple of minutes to create an account. Once your account has been created you can even upload serial numbers of property that has been lost or stolen from you which has not yet been recovered.

Please ensure that you do not leave valuables in view at home or in your vehicle leaving you potentially vulnerable to burglary and vehicle crime.

Do you have a bicycle which you need security marking? We can issue you with a bicycle passport and give you crime reduction advice to reduce the risk of your bike being stolen. Please contact your local neighborhood policing team for further information on 07850 030925
