| Extra Info: | It has been discussed and agreed that in order to reap the benefits and gain the best out of the Wickford Neighbourhood Meetings, one Neighbourhood meeting (formerly known as NAPs) will now be held for the whole of the Wickford area as opposed to the 5 individual NAP meetings once held. The Neighbourhood meetings will be held every 6 weeks.
By forging the individual wards together, as a group we can discuss relevant policing issues and set priorities for the whole of Wickford that as a community will affect everyone. In the future it will be planned to invite personnel from other outside agencies as well as other departments of Essex Police to attend the Neighbour Meeting to assist us in dealing with issues that may be raised by you the members.
Crime and incident statistics will continue to be passed for each individual ward, and issues can still be raised and discussed no differently to the previous former NAPs.

Update
------------------------------------------------------Advice about
Distraction
burglaries------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you're not sure who is at your door, don't open it. Check the
identity of the caller by calling the company they are purporting
to be from i.e. gas, electricity, water, police. Use the telephone
numbers listed in your local directory or provided independently by
your service provider – Do not use any telephone numbers provided
by the caller – they may be bogus.
Telephone a neighbour or friend nearby to come along and check out
the caller before you open the door to them. Some areas in the
country have “nominated neighbour schemes” you can sign up to.
Check with your local police to find out if there is one in your
area.
Many service providers provide password schemes, sign up to these.
When unannounced callers knock at your door they should know the
password if they are genuine.
Also, the “Waterboard” no longer exists, it is an obsolete phrase
used only by bogus callers.
You can take action in a number of ways to help make your
neighbourhood a safer place to live, work and visit.
