I also aim to execute numerous drug search warrants and am very eager to receive information from the public in relation to who is selling/dealing in the area. Please feel free to contact me anytime and if you would like to remain anonymous, simply don’t leave a name. I look forward to hearing from you.

Below you can read about the issues that you have made a priority in your neighbourhood. We aim to act on the issues that matter the most to you.

Local Priority

Issue

Burglary Dwellings. Mainly in the Shotgate area.

Raised on 29/02/2012

Action

There have been a number of burglaries in the Shotgate area, mainly in the Avenue's. The majority of these burglaries are from the front door being forced open and entry being gained. To combat this, Wickford Neighbourhood Policing Team have given local residents advice through the door to protect your property and during the evenings and early hours of the morning police patrols have been increased. If you hear anything at night that sounds out of the ordinary, please contact the police. We rather it be a false alarm than an actual burglary taking place.

Update

-------------------------------------------------------------Advice about Distraction burglaries----------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you're not sure who is at your door, don't open it. Check the identity of the caller by calling the company they are purporting to be from i.e. gas, electricity, water, police. Use the telephone numbers listed in your local directory or provided independently by your service provider – Do not use any telephone numbers provided by the caller – they may be bogus.

Telephone a neighbour or friend nearby to come along and check out the caller before you open the door to them. Some areas in the country have “nominated neighbour schemes” you can sign up to. Check with your local police to find out if there is one in your area.

Many service providers provide password schemes, sign up to these. When unannounced callers knock at your door they should know the password if they are genuine.

Also, the “Waterboard” no longer exists, it is an obsolete phrase used only by bogus callers.

You can take action in a number of ways to help make your neighbourhood a safer place to live, work and visit.
