Local Priority

Issue

Nuisance motor vehicles, causing a noise nuisance at Freeport car park,Charter Way,Braintree

Raised on 24/06/2010

Action

Following the Neighbourhood meeting on 13th August 2011 it was decided that Freeport would remain a priority for the neighbourhood. There have been several drivers reported for traffic offences and further incidents are being investigated. Op Madelene is due to continue until the end of August. Police Community Support Officers (PCSO) have been sending letters to vehicle's congregating in the area to raise awareness of the problem and highlight enforcement action that will be taken should vehicles be driven inappropriately. Braintree District Council (BDC) has supported Operation Madelene with around 17 fixed penalty notices for littering and a section 59 warning issued over a single weekend. Operation Madelene is ongoing and has been succesful. On Sunday the 6th of November 2011 following reports from Freeport and Local residens police responded to nuisance complaint in the carpark. As a result of this two drivers were issued with a Section 59 warning. We didn't received any calls about nuisance vehicles in January, but we still patroling this area on daily basis. As a result of regular patrols a Section 59 warning has been issued in January.

Local Priority

Issue

ASB in Marks Farm Estate

Raised on 13/08/2011

Action

Police have been recently made aware of issues in the Marks Farm estate. The issues appear to be a number of individuals which are being monitored by the neighbourhood team who are working in partnership with Flagship housing. There have been a number of locations where grafitti has been found, this appears to be the same lettering "GMC." This is being investigated. If you are suffering from anti-social behaviour in the area please notify your neighbourhood team using your preferred contact method. We often find it is easier to reach a resolution when issues are reported to us when they are occuring or as soon as possible afterwards. Please feel free to share your concerns at our neighbourhood meetings. This is still an ongoing issue especially after the hours of darkness. Please be vigilant in this area and report any concerns as soon as possible. The local Neighbourhood police team have increased the patrols in the area.On 10th January 2012 a Multi agency meeting was held at Braintree District Council to discuss the local anti social problems in the area of the Marks Farm Estate and Tesco on Coggeshall Road. Agencies included NACRO, Essex Police, Children Services, Flagship Housing, Braintree District Council, NAP chair person and Tesco. A multi agency approach will be used to tackle the issues that occur on this estate. Through a multi agency approach we have teamed up with NACRO and will be starting the first of many free sports sessions on the 9th of February 2012. One youth has been convicted of Harrasment in January.

Update

If you have any issues please get in touch with our team on 07792814495 or you can come and meet us at one of our community meetings listed on the events page.

If you need crime prevention advice please take a look at the Be Safe section of our website where you can find out how to keep you and your family safe. Alternatively give us a call and we will be happy to give you advice.

We have noticed an increase in the number of garage burglaries in the Braintree area recently and would like to remind all residents to lock and secure their property at all times. There are still a number of incidents whereby items have been stolen from unlocked or insecure premises, taking simple steps such as the use of lighting and padlocks can dramatically reduce the chance of you being a victim of crime. If you need any advice in relation to crime prevention give us a call on the neighbourhood mobile. Recently items being targeted include bicycles and fishing tackle.

There is a known crime trend for distraction thefts whereby victims are observed using their credit/debit cards in order to identify your PIN, then you are distracted [commonly by using a map and asking for directions] whilst another then removes your card from your car/bag. The cards are then often used to withdraw cash at the location. Supermarkets are likely to be locations which may be targetted.

You can take action in a number of ways to help make your neighbourhood a safer place to live, work and visit.
