Local Priority

Issue

Nuisance youths at Borley Church causing criminal damage, littering, vehicles being driven in anti social manner late at night especially at weekends, remains one of our priorities and will remain due to the Churches history. Borley Church has the reputation of being one of the most haunted places in England whereby websites and books publicises this.

Raised on 21/04/2012

Action

As the area will always remain a priority, the local policing team will be patrolling the area, and relevent stop checks will be made.

Update

The local priorities for the Yeldham neighbourhood is to tackle Anti Social Behaviour in and around Belchamp Walter where youths have been congregating drinking alcohol and causing damage in the process, Police are continuing in the area in order to disperse any large groups and deal with any offences faced with

Borley Church also seems to be an attraction especially late at night and in the early hours of the morning, this is all down to the church believed to be haunted, youths are driving their vehicles to the location and then causing a nuisance to local residents. Anti social behaviour in the area has risen and police will be looking to disperse anyone around the church grounds if causing a nuisance

Now the season for cutting grass is upon us we still need to be vigilant of thefts and burglaries where garages and sheds are being targeted and garden tools such as chain saws, strimmers etc are being stolen. Be aware that opportunists will even steal from gardens where tools have have been left out and have not been put away. Please be vigilant of any suspicious persons / vehicles in the area who will be on the prowl for anything they can get there hands on, please make sure that all sheds / outbuildings are locked and secured when not in use
Report anything unusual to your local co-ordinator or Police and we will then prioritise the information

Scrap meteal is still high on the wanted list by thieves so any sightings yet again please contact police

Please be extra vigilant and be on the lookout for your neighbour's property as well to ensure nothing untoward is happening. People have bolt cropped padlocks to gain entry. Make sure the appropriate crime prevention is adhered too so that the thieves think twice. For advice call us on 07855 781127.

New members of our team
We have some new members of our community team and they consist of Sgt Dave Wright and PCSOs Belinda Ruffle and Kim Chapman
They will be patrolling Yeldham and surrounding villages and they both can be contacted on 07855 781127.

Anti-social Behaviour

Another target for thieves is heating oil, recent thefts have occurred in the Bumpsteads area, the theft of this has increased due to the rising price of oil, please be vigilant if you own a heating oil tank and make sure you put a locking cap on.

Other issues thatis frequently brought up, is the issue of speeding in our villages. In particular, I have been made aware of problems on Bulmer, Steeple Bumpstead and the main road through Yeldham. Our local traffic officers have been made aware, and where possible, and with allowances to their countywide committments, they will carry out checks in these areas, and any others that we are made aware of. Our PCSO's are trained to use a laser speed gun, so will also be able to carry out checks. Local officers are also trained to use the laser speed device and are able to carry out checks in the local areas. We are also attempting to raise the profile of Community Speed Watch so if you fancy being involved in this and want to help your village whereby at least four of you would like to be trained up please contact Pc Nicky Smith at Halstead Police station for further details

If you have any issues you would like to discuss please contact us on 07855 781127 or 101 extension 407102
Has you have probably noticed i am now based at Halstead Police and not Great Yeldham anymore, under the new Essex Police reform this will not change the way we police your area and we are conatctable on the numbers given above

Also with this time of year leading to the summer months and you have some fete, boot sale or any other function you would like Police to be involved with dont hesitate to make conatct on the relevant numbers.

You can take action in a number of ways to help make your neighbourhood a safer place to live, work and visit.
