Local Priority

Issue

Speeding in Villages

Raised on 23/05/2013

Action

The Neighbourhood Policing Team is encouraging CSW to continue and we will be working alongside CSW. Sites are now active in and around Halstead, Gosfield, Gt Yeldham, Lt Yeldham, Wakes Colne, White Ash Green, Lamarsh/ Alphamstone, Sible Hedingham, Ridgewell, Foxearth and Helions Bumpstead. There are no restrictions on the number of volunteers required so those still wishing to take an active part in controlling speed in their villages volunteer are more than welcome to do so. The more volunteers that come forward the more productive and effective the sites' become. All vehicles recorded exceeding the speed limit are noted by Essex Police and warning letters are sent to offenders. The CSW has recently purchased a newer and more effective LASER speed detection device. This is more accurate in the fact that it can pinpoint any vehicle coming or going from any direction and regardless of where the vehicle is positioned on the road. Halstead Police now have more police officers trained in the use of Speed Detection devices and are now in use supporting the CSW members.

Update

We have been getting a number of dwelling burglaries occurring throughout North Essex including the Hedingham's.
Your belongings may mean a lot to you but to a thief they’re just a way of making quick and easy cash.
Burglars can strike at any time but most burglaries can be prevented by securing your home.

Most burglars are opportunists and in 3 out of 10 burglaries, access is gained through an open door or window.
Burglars love it when you make their job easier for them. There are simple steps you can take to beat the burglar. For more information please view the "Burglary" section on the Essex Police website, contacting your local neighbourhood policing team or the Crime Reduction Officer.

You can take action in a number of ways to help make your neighbourhood a safer place to live, work and visit.
