District commander update

Above: Chief Insp Paul Howell
I am proud to have been appointed district commander for Castle
Point and to lead a dedicated team of men and women committed to
your safety and protection.
In a way it is something of a homecoming for me; I began my
police career with the former Rayleigh Division which as many of
you may know encompassed the borough. So I am familiar with
the area, its political landscape and the challenges our community
faces.
I appreciate that many things will have changed in the meantime,
but the fundamentals remain the same. Castle Point is a low
crime area and is one of the safest parts of the county in which to
live and work.
This is due in no small part to the fact that we enjoy the
support of our many partners and the community as a whole.
Their contribution towards helping us significantly reduce crime
and anti-social behaviour cannot be overestimated.
I want to build on these foundations. My overriding
objective is to further reduce crime and increase the number of
offenders brought to justice. Fewer crimes mean fewer victims
of crime.
Aligned to this I want the public to have confidence in their
police. They should expect the best possible service from us
and I am determined that my officers and staff deliver this.
Every contact with us should be of gold standard. What could
be more appropriate for a borough about to host an Olympic
event?
I am realistic about the challenges we confront but, equally, I
am excited by the opportunities too. I look forward to
working with you to make Castle Point an even better place in which
to live.
