District Commander update
I joined Essex Police in December 1986 and was first posted to
Tilbury.

I then served at Grays on Response teams for a number of years and
as a neighbourhood beat officer, before being promoted to Sergeant
at Southend. Whilst at Southend, I was seconded to the Metropolitan
Police, stationed at Forest Gate.
Upon my return to Essex, I continued to serve at Leigh on Sea, then
transferred to Chelmsford, where I performed a number of
operational roles and was asked to establish the Melbourne
Neighbourhood Policing Team.
On promotion to Inspector I served on response teams, then became
the Chelmsford town section Inspector. Following this, I was
promoted to Chief Inspector as the District Commander for
Chelmsford. I was then posted to the Strategic Change
Management Unit at Essex Police Headquarters.
I have a real passion for neighbourhood policing and I am a strong
believer in working closely with partners to find solutions. Early
intervention is key to keep crime and anti-social behaviour at a
minimum. My first priority is crime reduction and ensuring the
public feel well-served.
There has been some fantastic work in the Castle Point and Rochford
districts and I am extremely keen to develop this further in the
new single district. Over the next few months, I will be having a
thorough handover from the current District Commanders and will be
meeting with partners. I look forward to working with you all.
