District commander update
I am delighted to have the opportunity of serving the community
as Chelmsford District Commander.

Above: Chief Insp Joe Wrigley
I have been a police officer since 1985 and a Chief Inspector
since 2003. I have previously served as the District Commander at
Uttlesford and worked at HQ in a number of roles prior to that.
Before that I was the Neighbourhood Policing Team inspector at
Braintree and have previously served at Southend-on-Sea and
Colchester.
The Chelmsford district is a safe place to live, work and visit.
Compared with similar districts nationally we perform very well
keeping crime low and bringing offenders to justice.
Your policing team and I are working hard to improve the service
we deliver to you and to meet all the standards set out in the
Policing Pledge. If you are concerned about the quality of service
you have received from us or have any suggestions on how we can
improve please contact the team direct on the phone numbers listed
on this website. If you prefer to write a letter, please address
to:
The Command Team Secretary
Chelmsford Police Station
New Street
Chelmsford
CM1 1NF
Together, with partners from other agencies, we will continue to
work to reduce crime and with your support will bring to justice
those determined to be anti-social or carry out crime in our
area.
Our aims this year are to have an impact on all crimes but
especially dwelling burglary and serious violence.
Without your help we can only achieve so much so I ask you, as a
member of this community, to help us drive up the quality of life
by driving out those that would lower it.
As a member of the Chelmsford district community please get
involved. Join neighbourhood watch, be a volunteer assistant at
your local police station, join the Special Constabulary or simply
contact us directly or via Crimestoppers (0800 555 111 or visit
www.crimestoppers-uk.org).
In any way you choose, I encourage you to help to continue
making Chelmsford district one of the safest and most pleasant
neighbourhoods in which to live, work and visit.
