Update
***BEAT MOBILE NUMBER***
The beat mobile number for Chelmsford Rural West NPT is 07817
454525.
This mobile is shared by the other beat areas in Chelmsford, so
please state what area you live in, or your local officers' name
when you call or leave a message.
***NEIGHBOURHOOD ACTION PANEL (NAP) MEETINGS***
The Rural NAP meeting was held in February 2012 and another one
will be planned for August 2012. Please keep an eye on our events
page to find out the date for the next Rural NAP meeting.
Due to low attendance at the Writtle NAP meetings - it has been
decided that there will no longer be a Neighbourhood Action Panel
meeting for the village of Writtle. However, in order to continue
serving the community and making sure your local team is available
to you; we have increased the amount of beat surgeries at the
library on The Green, Writtle. Please see details of when these are
on our events section.
**PARADISE PARK***
Paradise Park now has a new gate attached to the front of the car
park. This gate only works when an electronic tag is used.
Therefore, if you do not have possession of an electronic tag but
wish to use the facilities you have to do so by parking your
vehicles along paradise road. Please ensure however that your park
in a considerate manner for the residents in that road.
***DOG CONTROL***
Writtle Parish Council have made a Dog Control Order under the
Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005 making it an offence
not to remove dog faeces deposited by a dog for which he or she is
responsible within the parish of Writtle.
Can we also remind the public that dogs are excluded from Paradise
Road Playing Fields. Police will be conducting regular patrols in
the area and those found breach of the Dog Control Order may be
liable to prosecution.
***SECURITY***
With the summer soon approaching and people opening windows for
fresh and cool air - please remember to shut all of these windows
when you leave your house. There has been an increase in burglaries
across the county. Please can everyone be extra vigilant when out
and about. Please ensure that your premises are left secured with
all windows and doors locked when you leave. Do not leave valuable
items on display. We would like to remind everyone that good home
security is critical to prevent these crimes from happening. Just
pulling the handle on your PVC door up does not always secure your
door - it needs to be double locked. The harder you make it for
burglars the less likely it is they will bother targeting your
house. If you would like a member of your local policing team to
come to you and offer you a home security assessment and security
advice, please contact your local team.
***BOGUS CALLERS***
There have been a number of reported incidents to police whereby
persons are impersonating staff from banks and explaining to
residents that there are problems with their bank accounts. Persons
then ask residents to hand over their bank cards and pin numbers
and advise them that a new bank card will be delivered. This then
gives the people all the equipment and information they need in
order to obtain money from your account. Essex Police advise all
persons to never hand over their bank details to any person who
asks for it at the door. Under no circumstances will any bank ask
for customers to hand over their bank details.
Essex Police urge all persons to report any suspicious activity
they see to them via the contact details on this site.
Be vigilant and do not open yourselves up to be a victim.
***COLD CALLERS***
We have had a number of incidents recently whereby persons are
knocking on residents doors either claiming to be from charities or
local businesses. Please be advised that although the majority of
these people are carrying out legitimate work, some may not be.
Please ensure that if someone knocks on your door, that you request
ID from them - all genuine callers will be able to present you with
correct ID. If you are still unsure, they should be able to provide
you with a telephone number to confirm their identity. Don't get
caught out - if your suspicious - check it out!
***COMMUNITY SPEED WATCH***
Essex Police urge all persons that wish to make a reduction in
speeding vehicles in your area, then join your local Community
Speed Watch. This is a voluntary project that allows members of the
local community to go out to the roads that are suffering with
speeding vehicles, and using a speed monitoring device capture
peoples speed. If you feel you have a problem with speed in your
area and wish to take part in reducing this problem; please contact
a member of your local Neighbourhood Policing Team.
You can take action in a number of ways to help make your
neighbourhood a safer place to live, work and visit.
