PCSO Karen Garwood (Collar number 71101)
Having worked as a communications manager for a large energy
company before I joined Essex Police, I have attained skills in
ways to communicate with people effectively. These skills have been
very useful since becoming a PCSO in 2006. I have covered most
areas in Chelmsford, and I am now responsible for the Marconi ward.
My focus is on cycle patrols to enable me to attend low level
incidents in a timely way, and to provide reassurance and assist in
preventing crime. I carry out beat surgeries in Morrisons to give
crime prevention advice. I also provide Internet safety talks to
primary and secondary schools.

Update
Cycle thefts are still on the increase in the Chelmsford area.
Please ensure that your bicycle is secured, whenever you leave it.
We would suggest that you have your bicycle tagged (chipped), and
use a 'D' lock. You can find out how to get your bicycle tagged
(chipped) on the Internet.
Check our events page for dates of our beat surgeries that are held
at Morrisons Supermarket and Melbourne Parade Post Office. Our
PCSOs are there to advise, support and give crime prevention.
During the winter months, we make regular checks on the vulnerable
people within our community. Can you please do your bit by checking
on vulnerable family or neighbours.
You can take action in a number of ways to help make your
neighbourhood a safer place to live, work and visit.
