Springfield

Update

Crime is relatively low in Springfield and it is generally a very pleasant and safe place to live and work. Crime tends to be related to anti-social behaviour and mainly takes the form of minor criminal damage and theft from retail areas such as Chelmer Village Retail Park and other shopping locations such as ASDA, SAINSBURY and B&Q. Our industrial areas of Springfield also sometimes attract thefts and anti-social behaviour. Burglaries are always a concern, with people leaving doors and windows open, so please be vigilant. Our PCSOs have been busy giving crime reduction advice to the public by visiting elderly persons homes, visiting Asda's, Sainsbury's, taking the mobile police station out and around the Springfield area. They have also been delivering a lot of burglary letters to the residents. Bikes have been stolen. High visibility patrols are always being carried out in the area. We have been experiencing an increase with garages that are in communal blocks being broken in to, around the Christmas period to now. Advice being given to the public to secure their homes, garages and sheds as best they can, while continuing to report any suspicious activity. 05/02/2011.

The Neighbourhood Action Panel have also identified that the area of Eglinton Drive as suffering from youth related anti-social behaviour. Due to the nature of the reports the panel has agreed that this area should receive a priority response from the police and their partners to address these issues so expect to see more patrols. Update: the problem is now declining but patrols are always being done in the area. 05/02/2011.

We are still suffering from the occassional burglary and criminal damage incidents. Nuisance Youth problems have risen now the weather is better. More frequent High Visibility Patrols in certain area are being carried out. More information about the areas are under the Local Priorities tab. 05/05/2011

We are still suffering from criminal damage to cars and fencing, theft, a couple of burglaries and a few arson incidents in the Springfield area. Anti Social Behaviour incidents still continue. Springfield still suffers from Criminal Damage, Thefts, a few Burglaries and Anti Social Behaviour. Although the numbers a low we still need the public to let us know what is happening in your area.
