Below you can read about the issues you have made a policing
priority in your neighbourhood. We aim to act on the issues that
matter the most to you.
Local Priority
Dog fouling on the footpath from Haddon Park to East Bay.
Raised on 07/02/2012
November 2011 - Peter Ferguson, the Colchester Borough Council
zone manager to investigate the possibility of further dog bins
being installed in this area. January 2012 - To be discussed at the
next neighbourhood meeting in February 2012 to establish an update
on the issue. February 2012 - Peter reported that the installation
of dog bins in the area is being held up due to health and safety
reasons. There is an issue with access for vehicles (wardens are
limited to the distance they are allowed to carry the full dog bin
bags) which is currently being discussed. Update at May NAP
meeting. Actions are as follows: a) Loanda to follow up the funding
bid for dog bins submitted to Bridget Tighe on behalf of Peter
Ferguson. b) Peter to liaise with Steve Collis to establish whether
the bin in the ‘rec’ can be moved to the other side of the gate to
prevent it being inaccessible to dog walkers when the gate is
locked. April 2012 - This will be updated following next month's
NAP. May 2012 - May's NAP meeting was cancelled and as such no
update has been provided for this issue. Once an update has been
received this will be updated accordingly.
Updated on 03/05/2012
Local Priority
Littering and fly tipping.
Raised on 07/02/2012
November 2011 - Peter Ferguson, the Colchester Borough Council
Zone manager to meet with Councillors to identify hotspot areas and
prompt regular warden patrols of the listed agreed areas. Peter
will also investigate whether street services have access to a leaf
blower and look into organising a general clean up of the area
affected after the previous fire at Bridge House after demolition
of the property has taken place. January 2012 - The results of the
above actions will be identified at the next neighbourhood meeting
in February 2012. February 2012 - Peter Ferguson reported the
following: a) Hot spot areas have been identified following a meet
with Councillors and are now being patrolled regularly by zone
wardens. b) Peter will have access to a leaf blower for use in New
Town next year. c) Zone warden patrols have increased across the
ward. d) Peter has acquired 20 signs intended for dog fouling with
6-8 of them being installed in the New Town area. e) Street
sweepers will now be in the area every 6 weeks rather than every 8
weeks. This item will remain on the action plan temporarily for
monitoring reasons. April 2012 - This will be updated following
next month's NAP. May 2012 - May's NAP was cancelled and therefore
no update has been received at this stage. This priority will be
updated once this has been provided.

Update
May 2012
04/05/2012 - Over the last month we have received calls relating to
the theft of milk from resident's doorstep, particularly in Lisle
Road. Please remain vigilant and if possible liaise with the dairy
company and try to establish a mutually convenient place to have
the milk stored which is out of sight. Examples include the side of
your property, within the green recycling crates or in custom built
locked milk bottle holders.
04/05/2012 - Theft of lead and copper appears to be on the rise
again throughout Colchester, with a number of offences also
occuring within Newtown. Please be aware of this and report any
suspicious activity to police on 101 (or 999 if you witness an
offence occuring). No call is stupid and we would rather find
people are acting legitimately by attending than not attend and
have the items stolen.
If you require advice on security or wish for crime prevention
audits to be conducted on your property, please get in touch with
