Harbour Berechurch

Welcome to the Harbour Berechurch Neighbourhood Policing Team pages. We are committed to making your neighbourhood a safer place to live, work and visit and will work with the community and our partners to tackle local problems. Harbour Berechurch is part of the Colchester district and covers areas including Old Heath, Blackheath, Maypole Green and Monkwick Estate.

Jim White

Inspector Jim White (Collar number 1077)

I have been a Police Officer with Essex Police for 20 years and still thoroughly enjoy Policing. I have been an Inspector for 10 years and as such have worked on Response at Chelmsford, Detective Inspector at Professional Standards, Head of Driver Training, Clacton Response, DI Crime Performance, Community Safety and Colchester Town Inspector. I now have a large area of Colchester to look after with my team at Colchester South. We cover Mersea , Abberton, Fingeringhoe, Birch, Layer, Tiptree, Rowhedge, Harbour, Berechurch, Shrub End, Stanway, Lexden, Prettygate and Copford. I am hoping you will find myself and my team very pro-active in tackling your concerns and you will see us out and about in the Community as much as we possibly can taking a firm line against anti social behaviour of any kind. I have been working for Essex Police for around 7 years and the majority of my service has been working on Neighbourhood Policing. My previous service was in Chelmsford and therefore I am new to the Colchester area. My area of responsibility is now Harbour and Berechurch. Issue

ASB and underage drinking at the youth shelter School Road Monkwick after midnight at weekends. This has been reported by local people via the councillor. Not reported directly to police.

Action

Night shift have been requested to patrol the area on a regular basis as will the night shift npt officers. 22/01/2012 todate no youths have been found in this area, nothing has been captured on cctv this will be monitored on a regular basis. 01/04/2012 - Police will continue to patrol this area and monitor the situation 13/4/2012- This is reguarly patrolled by local police. If persons are found in the area they are spoken to by police to raise awareness but also for crime prevention.

ASB in the Solud Developement Numerous calls from local residents complaining about disruptive noise and damage in the play area at the back of the Solus Development

Action

04/04/2012- Meeting with various agencies to discuss the issue 13/4/2012- This area is patrolled daily, both day shifts and late shifts by the local team. On rare occasions persons are found to be congregating in the park, though not actually causing any problems. All persons are spoken to by police to raise awareness but also to build relationship between young persons and local policing team. This will continue to be monitored.

Update

Its been reported to the local policing team that there is an increase in Anti-Social Behaviour in the play area on the Solus Estate. Police have increased their patrols in this area in marked vehicles and plain cars. If anyone see's any Anti-Social Behaviour and/or criminal activity please contact that local policing team. This is an area that should be enjoyed by all and therefore we are keen to ensure any activity which prevents this from happening stops.

Please ensure you do not distract yourself away from persons visiting your premises, If you have a chain or spy hole please use them. If you are aware of a similar situation in your area or of anything suspicious please contact us on 101 non emergency line.

Please take a look at our Be Safe section of our website which has a whole host of advice about keeping your property secure.

Please be aware that we are dealing postively with those seen to be committing traffic offences in and around the schools in this area. Please be considerate when parking and driving to and from the schools. We all want our children to be save so if you cant park safe and legally, find somewhere you can!

In recent weeks there has been a number of thefts reported from the cemetary on Mersea Road. This is particuarly distressing for all, but especially family members as items have been stolen from the graves of young children. If you have any information relating to the incidents or the person involved please contact the police urgently. It is vital that we catch the person responsible and bring them to justice.

We have also seen an increase in theft of pedal cycles in the south of Colchester. Please be vigilant and take extra care with your bike if you leave it unattended. There are a number of ways you can get your bike "postcoded" to provide extra security in the event that your bike is stolen. Please contact us if you wish to find out more information. Alternatively, if you have any information relating to the thefts please contact the police.
