Update

LOCAL CRIME.

METAL THEFTS
Over last weekend the Doctors Surgery in Highwoods Square had lead removed from the roof. The Community Centre next door was also targetted, but the persons responsible fled empty handed from there. There have also been attempts recently to remove lead from porches in and around the Chinook area.

REPORTING SUSPICIOUS PEOPLE AND VEHICLES
Please!!!I if you see a person or vehicle acting suspiciously take as much detail as possible such as index plates, colour, description of people and direction of travel and call police immediately, we would rather come out to a false alarm than not be called at all.

VEHICLE CRIME
We are still having a problem with vehicles being entered and items of value stolen. Most of these vehicles had been left insecure. I would urge owners to double check that they have locked their vehicles even after using a remote control locking system.

Mercedes Sprinter Vans are still being targeted by thieves for their catalytic convertors. Whole exhaust systems are being stolen. Owners please take as many security measures as you can. There are products available that secure catalytic convertors and they can be security marked.

SECURITY
Home and vehicle security is of great importance and by taking time to protect your vehicle you may reduce your chances of becoming a victim of crime. The best way to protect your property is to totally remove valuable items from your vehicle and any trace that you own such items for example take time to remove the suction mark from the windscreen that may suggest you have a Sat Nav.
Parking in well lit areas and those covered by CCTV may also help protect your vehicle.

For further Crime reduction advice please call 101 and ask to speak to your local neighbourhood officers Pc Kelly Metcalfe or Pc Steve Walsom.

NEIGHBOURHOOD MEETINGS.
Neighbourhood Meetings are meetings which are held within your local community. They provide an ideal opportunity for members of the public to discuss issues and problems within their own neighbourhoods. We hope that you will attend and meet with us, councillors and other agencies to discuss local issues which are of concern to you. We look forward to meeting you.

The next Neighbourhood Meeting will take place at 2.30pm on 23rd May 2012 at the Mile End Methodist Church Hall, Nayland Road, Colchester.

You can take action in a number of ways to help make your neighbourhood a safer place to live, work and visit.
