Update
Police in this area continue to listen and take action to the
community's concerns which include Crimes and Anti-Social Behaviour
.
Crime
It is pleasing to note that there has been a significant reduction
in reported crime this year. With the efforts being made by the
community and with the help of all agencies involved, it is hoped
that crime will continue to be reduced. However, in the last few
weeks there have been a number of house burglaries in the lower end
of Greenstead and electrical goods including computers have been
stolen. Vehicles in the St Annes area have also been targetted with
items including satellite navigation systems being stolen .
Mercedes Sprinter Vans are being targeted by thieves for their
catalytic convertors. Whole exhaust systems are being stolen.
Owners please take as many security measures as you can. There are
products available that secure catalytic convertors and they can be
security marked.
Please continue to take extra care regarding the security of your
property and don't make your valuables an easy target for thieves
.
Anti-Social Behaviour.
Positive steps are being made to put an end to incidents whereby
residents are suffering distress caused by others.
To this end, two applications for Anti-Social Behaviour Orders have
been made.
One of these was successful and granted to a female residing in the
Greenstead area.
The other application was made against a male youth and is still
impending.
The area's Policing Team will continue targeting those that are the
main offenders and are working closely with members from other
agencies to take positive steps to resolve such issues.
A Drugs warrant was issued in St Annes and the findings have been
shared to partner agencies. Tenancy enforcement action has been
taken by the landlords of the premises and the occupants have been
evicted. This was a welcome end to a lot of distress cause to the
neighbouring residents. Other tenants at a house on Greenstead were
evicted , following complaints of misuse of drugs.
In other matters, legal action has been taken by the local
authority against two residents in connection with anti-social
behaviour and injunctions were granted by court order .
Police have received a number of reports of off road motorcycles
being ridden in a parkland area in St Annes. Two males were later
identified and were both issued warnings under Section 59 of the
Police Reform Act 2002 which refers to vehicles being used in a
manner which causes alarm, distress or annoyance and gives Police a
power to seize vehicles being used in such a manner following a
series of warnings. Attention by our local Policing Team will
continue until this problem is resolved.
You can take action in a number of ways to help make your
neighbourhood a safer place to live, work and visit.
