Junior Neighbourhood Watch
Junior Neighbourhood Watch is just what you'd expect it to be -
traditional Neighbourhood Watch but for children.
The fun scheme is up and running in many schools throughout Essex
and aims to encourage children to take an active interest in home
security and reducing crime and disorder in their local
communities.

Children are taught basic home security, railway safety, drug
awareness and fire safety in sessions during and after
school.
Run by friendly PCSOs, Junior Neighbourhood Watch encourages
young people to take pride in helping others by passing
on what they have learned to family and friends.
It aims to teach young people to be kind and considerate and help
them understand that working together can help solve problems at
school and in their local communities.
The film above shows a Junior Neighbourhood Watch group on a visit
to Basildon Fire Station to learn about the role of a firefighter
and the importance of checking smoke alarms.

Junior Neighbourhood Watch works in conjunction with 2SMART, Essex
Police's award winning project aimning to educate children across
the county about the dangers of bullying, alcohol, drugs and
knives. The 2SMART website is full of
advice about for young people.
