Marine Watch
Marine Watch is the marine equivalent of Neighbourhood Watch,
offering support and reassurance to marine communities and gaining
information to help reduce crime.
Objectives
Marine Watch aims to:
- Increase the prevention and detection of marine related
crime
- Develop awareness of the work of the marine unit to improve
relationships within marine communities in Essex
- Increase the awareness of Marine Watch and work towards forming
a long standing network of representatives and Marine Watch
areas
PCSOs also conduct regular shore patrols and set up specific
operations to target crime trends.
Marking days and other security related initiatives can be
organised with local volunteer co-ordinators to ensure boats and
equipment are marked to help trace their rightful owners should
they be stolen.
Marine Watch packages
Marine Watch packages are available for members of the public who
wish to join the scheme.
These include crime prevention advice, information on local
byelaws and useful contact numbers.
Database
The Essex Police Marine Watch runs a registration system. If you
fill in the registration form your boat/equipment details will be
held on a database.
The database helps us identify stolen and abandoned items and
those recovered at house searches. It can also be cross referenced
when stop checks are carried out.
You can register online using the form below or download a PDF version
of the form and return it by post.
