District commander update
I am immensely proud to have the opportunity to serve the
community as Maldon District Commander.

Above: Chief Insp Steve Ditchburn
I have recently taken over this role and I am looking forward to
working with the community and partner agencies to continue to
reduce crime and anti-social behaviour.
I am committed to improving the standard of service Essex Police
delivers to all members of the public and have made this a priority
for my team. We have made a promise to our community through the
Policing Pledge and will ensure that we deliver on this
promise.
Your policing team and I are working hard to improve the service
we deliver to you and to meet all the standards set out in the
Policing Pledge. If you are concerned about the quality of service
you have received from us or have any suggestions on how we can
improve please contact the team direct on the phone numbers listed
on this website. If you prefer to write a letter, please address
to:

The Maldon district has a very low crime rate and has achieved a
22% reduction in crime over the last three years. Essex Police
continues to reduce crime by working very closely with partner
agencies in the crime and disorder reduction partnership
(CDRP).
Although we have a low crime rate, crime does unfortunately still
occur and we will seek out those responsible and deal with them
wherever possible.
Essex and Maldon are low crime areas so we need to find ways of
directing resources at those measures which not only reduce crime
but make you feel safer too.
The way in which we deliver our policing service is through our
Neighbourhood Policing Teams, dedicated to:
- Improving our visibility and reducing the fear of crime
- Gaining the trust and confidence of the local community
- Tackling the causes and effects of crime and anti-social
behaviour
- Being identifiable and known within the local community
- Tackling crime through targeting repeat offenders
- Building on successful local partnerships within the community
to solve problems
Essex Police and its partner agencies need the support of the
public and therefore I look forward to working with you in 2010 and
beyond, to help make sure that the Maldon district
remains a great place to live, work and visit.
