District commander update
I’m immensely proud of the huge range of initiatives and
projects developed by my team and our partner agencies.

An example of one of these projects is Tendring Business Against
Crime. This scheme enables businesses to work closely with police
and Tendring District Council in the fight against theft,
anti-social behaviour and violence. I look forward to what promises
to be an exciting solution to many of the issues raised by local
residents.
We’re constantly looking at ways of solving issues such as
anti-social behaviour. For example, we take a firm approach to
underage drinking and work closely with Trading Standards to carry
out test purchases in shops across the district.
I’m also pleased that we now have more Neighbourhood Specialist
Officer roles in the district than ever before. We’ve added 14 more
NSOs, bringing the total in Tendring to 24. NSOs are highly-skilled
officers who have proven themselves as individuals who consistently
go above and beyond the usual expectations of a police officer.
They provide the essential link between the force and the community
and are there to listen to any issues and answer any
concerns.
Maintaining solid links with the community is central to our
policing style and vision of what our service should look like.
Neighbourhood Action Panels and Neighbourhood Watch are central to
this and I look forward to building on previous years’ successes in
order to deliver what the people of Tendring desire and deserve – a
safe place to live and work.
