Below you can read about the issues that you have made a priority in your neighbourhood. We aim to act on the issues that matter the most to you.

Local Priority

Issue

Drug Misuse in and around the town centre

Raised on 01/10/2010

Action

In recent weeks some long term work around local drug dealing has come to conclusion seeing numerous search warrants completed and numerous people charged with various offences of possessing and supplying controlled drugs. These people are now going through the court process and some are receiving considerable prison sentences so will not be back on our streets for some time. Through uniformed patrols and interactions, plan clothed work and community engagement we continue to gather information on individuals and properties involved in local drug dealing and whenever possible we have executed drugs warrants and taken positive action against individuals who continue to bring this type of activity to our streets. We would ask everyone, whether resident or employees in the local area, to share any information with us about any criminal behaviour but in particular those involved in drug dealing. Your identity can be kept secret and the information you provide will be assessed alongside other local intelligence and then appropriate action will be taken.

Issue

Anti-Social Behaviour in and around the town centre

Raised on 01/10/2010

Action

The Dispersal Order is still in place in the Town Centre and continues to be used by local officers to disperse those involved in anti-social behaviour out of the town centre for between 12-24hrs. Those who we identify as repeatedly being involve din anti-social behaviour are having positive action taken against them with home visits to inform and gain support form parents and if the problem continues working towards an application at a Magistrates Court to have an Anti-Social Behaviour Order placed on the person and we have made one such application just this last month for one individual who has continued in their behaviour. As well as this the Tendring SOS bus is now being deployed into the town centre every Saturday evening. This provides a multi agency presence in the town centre to offer help and advice to those in need. We have identified persistant offenders and carried out proactive work to robustly deal with their behaviour, and prevent further nuisance.

Update

The central area of Clacton is effected by a high percentage of shoplifting incidents due to the town centre and various local shops. The area has also been affected by a recent burglary trend which has affected a lot of Clacton with individuals targetting homes where the front door has not been double locked however following a few key arrests this series has reduced and will continue to be monitored. We would strongly urge EVERYONE to review their own security measures and not wait until they are a victim of crime before changing something. Please ensure you double lock your doors, have car keys out of sight and away from the front door and open windows so they can't be reached. Make it more difficult for someone to get easy access to the rear of your property by installing gates and ensuring they are locked etc and do not leave ladders and gardens tools such as spades insecure in your gardens as they are all too often used by offenders to help gain access to properties. If you would like any further security advice then please contact the team.

The Tendring SOS bus is now being deployed every Saturday evening in Clacton town centre and provides a multi agency presence to give support and advice to those in need following successful schemes in other areas.

You can take action in a number of ways to help make your neighbourhood a safer place to live, work and visit.
