Drug Dealing and Anti-social Behaviour in Beach Road, Clacton

Raised on 07/01/2014

Numerous reports had been received by both the police and the Community Safety Partnership regarding drugs being both used and supplied by the occupants of an address in Beach Road, Clacton. They were the cause of an increase of anti-social behaviour with their activities. Police actioned searched warrants under the Misuse of Drugs Act and made arrests. On Tuesday 15th July an order was successfully obtained from the courts for a premises closure to take place as the evidence obtained showed that the occupants were involved with drugs and anti-social behaviour. This means that the occupants now cannot return to the premises for three months. Feedback has already been received in relation to the improvement in quality of life to the residents in the local area. We continue to strive to reduce the supply of drugs within the local area and welcome any information from the public.

Theft (shoplifitng)

Our local Town Centre PCSO's provide hi-visibility and reassurance patrols to the general public and local businesses. TENBAC (Tendring Business Against Crime) is a scheme that is in place to assist in reducing the number of thefts. Staff members from most local stores have instant access to Police/PCSO's via a radio system. It has proved to be a success on numerous occasions with suspects being arrested immediately.

Anti Social Behaviour

Raised on 04/02/2014

A Dispersal Order is in place covering the Town Centre. This allows officers to disperse persons from the area for up to 24 hours. If a person returns within this given time period, then they can be arrested for Breaching the Order. This helps officers deal with incidents of ASB by getting in early and nipping potential problems in the bud. There is also a Designated Public Places Order covering the Town Centre and Seafront. This Order is in place so officers are able to seize alcohol from a person within the designated area. We also carry out joint patrols with Police Accredited Wardens from Tendring District Council in relation to dealing with ASB.
