Update

To tackle the problems of dwelling burglaries Operation RIVERHEAD has been set up to increase high visibility patrols in the hotspot areas during the key times. During this Operation Essex Police shall be utilising plain clothes Officers to attempt to catch the culprits for these offences.

Chafford Hundred is experiencing an increase in vehicle crime, both theft of motor vehicles and theft from motor vehicles. To tackle this issue we have implemented Operation BIG APPLE, which has increased high visibility patrols in the hot spot areas. Please ensure that you keep your vehicles secure and ensure that you take all of your valuables out of your vehicles and especially do not leave anything of value on view. If you witness any suspicious behaviour please call us so that we can attempt to combat this problem. Please also ensure that you check your number plates on a regular basis as there is an increase in thefts of number plates.

South West Thurrock NPT has put into place an operation that will be running to combat the problem of the cruisers or boy racers in the Lakeside area. This operation has been running for two weeks now and has seen some very positive results. The police are also working with the council to try and come to some sort of solution to the problems that the cruisers cause.

Chafford Hundred is still getting a number of house burglaries and thefts. Please make sure all your doors, windows, sheds and garages are secured day and night. We can offer advice on how to reduce the risk of your property being targeted by burglars.

To deter burglars from visiting your home, keep secure all your valuables; for example mobile telephones, car keys, jewellery and keep them out of view from windows. If you are going out at night, leave a light on, preferably one with a low-energy bulb.

Further details and advice can be obtained from any local police station, and my team and I are more than happy to come along to your home and give you the advice and tips we have gathered from our experience. By taking simple steps and keeping an eye on each others' homes we can help deter burglary.

We are keen to keep our patrol time high within the Chafford and North Stifford village areas, so even if you don’t see us driving through or an officer walking around, we may still be in the areas as we also use unmarked police cars to patrol.

If you are having problems or you are a victim of crime please report it. If we do not hear from you, we cannot help you.

You can take action in a number of ways to help make your neighbourhood a safer place to live, work and visit.
