Uttlesford District
Welcome to the Uttlesford pages of the Essex Police Website.

District commander update
Uttlesford remains one of the safest places to live and work in
the UK as a result of police working in partnership with the
district council, county council, fire service and the primary care
trust.

Watch schemes, especially Neighbourhood Watch, also make great
contributions to the district.
I am particularly keen to reduce acquisitive crime in the
district, especially thefts from vehicles and non-dwelling
burglaries, and would like to reiterate the message about locking
vehicles and not leaving anything on display.
Your policing team and I are working hard to improve the service
we deliver to you and to meet all the standards set out in
the Policing Pledge. If you are concerned about the quality of
service you have received from us or have any suggestions on how we
can improve please contact the team direct on the phone numbers
listed on this website. If you prefer to write a letter, please
address to:

I would also urge anyone with outbuildings, stables, garden
sheds or farm buildings to make it harder for offenders to get in
by thinking about buying an alarm. They don’t have to cost a
fortune and could save you money in the long run.
Our priorities for the forthcoming year will be:
- Building confidence in policing - we want the people of
Uttlesford to feel happy that the police and local council are
dealing with the crime and anti-social behaviour issues that matter
in the area.
- Delivering our Policing Pledge to the public – making sure that
we do the things our neighbourhoods want us to do.
- To reduce recorded crime, anti-social behaviour and repeat
incidents of domestic abuse by at least 5%.
- To increase the recorded crime sanction detection rate.
