Non Emergency Enquiries 101

Could you be a key witness?

Detectives investigating the homicide of a man outside a Southend bar have issued an urgent appeal to identify a number of revellers who could be vital witnesses.

Photographs of ten people were released in the hope they would come forward with information about the death of Reece Lamude following a disturbance outside Churchills Bar in Tylers Avenue in the early hours of Sunday, June 19, 2011.

Three of those people have now been traced and extensive enquiries are continuing to trace the other people who were near to the entrance of the bar between 2.15am and 3am.

DI Marina Ericson of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate said: “We know from CCTV footage that the people in the pictures were close by or may have been watching while a disturbance was going on near the club doorway.

“These people were not in any way involved but they might hold vital information about events that led to Mr Lamude’s death. For the sake of his family we need to talk to these people and establish exactly what happened.

"We are very pleased with the response so far and we have been contacted by two women and a man who were outside the bar at the time. We have made arrangements to interview them as soon as possible.

"We are still hoping to hear from the seven other people who were seen on CCTV outside the bar between 2.15 and 3am."

Anyone who recognises himself or herself, or knows the names of those shown in the pictures is asked to contact the SCD investigation team at Brentwood by email on lamudewitnessappeal@essex.pnn.police.uk or ring the police non-emergency number on 101 and leave contact details.
