Who is this man?

Police have released a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with a theft at an ATM machine in East Walk, Basildon.

At 12.40pm on March 1, a suspect approached the victim, a woman in her 60’s and distracted her and entered £200 on the ATM keypad and withdrawn the cash and made off. The suspect is described as a white Eastern European man, aged between 21-40-years-old.

Investigating officer, Pc Laura Shelley, said: "It appears that this man targeted this woman distracted her. Amongst all the confusion, he stole £200 from her account, which must have been very upsetting for the victim. If you know who he is, we need to hear from you. We are also reminding people to be alert of people approaching you from behind at cash points, and always stay alert. If something doesn’t feel right and someone is behaving suspiciously, notify police immediately.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Pc Laura Shelley at the Basildon area investigation team on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
