Armed robbery at Loughton pub

Police are appealing for information about a pub robbery in which a five figure sum of cash and a landlord's van were stolen.

A man armed with a knife threatened the landlord of the Plume of Feathers Pub in Church Hill, Loughton on Wednesday, December 29 before making off in his Vauxhall Combi van.

The landlord was in an office upstairs in the pub when the suspect forced him to hand over the money at about 9.45am.

The landlord's white van was found abandoned under the M25 at Waltham Abbey an hour later.

The suspect is described as white, 5ft 10in tall and of stocky build. He was wearing a black balaclava and dark clothing.

Police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen a man entering or leaving the pub that morning and would also like to hear from anyone who may have seen the van being abandoned under the motorway, later that day, sometime between 09.45am and 10.45am.

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Penn at Loughton CID on 0300 333 4444.
