Police helicopter makes unscheduled landing to arrest men

The Essex Police helicopter made an unscheduled stop in Thorpe Le Soken to arrest three men on suspicion of theft.

The helicopter landed in fields close to Thorpe railway station at about 5pm on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 to arrest the men aged 22, 23 and 24 and all from Hampshire.

A number of mobile phones were recovered after video footage from the helicopter was replayed. They are believed to have been stolen from the O2 shop in Clacton town centre earlier that day.

The men are all currently in police custody.
