Cannabis factory discovered in residential property in Basildon
A cannabis cultivation set up has been uncovered in a
residential house in Basildon.
Police executed a search warrant at the property in Priors
Close on Thursday, July 5, 2012 and discovered that nearly the
whole house had been converted to grow cannabis.

Officers forced entry to the house and found extraction pipes
blocking entry to the stairs and running throughout the whole
house. A large number of plugs were also connected to the
domestic power supply to power hydroponic equipment.
Most of the plants had already been cropped, but police uncovered
several bin bags full of cannabis.
Sgt Paul Costin said: "I am absolutely delighted that we have
disrupted quite a large cannabis factory in a quiet residential
area.
We have stopped quite a sophisticated set up in growing more
cannabis that was destined for the streets of Basildon.
"We act on all good information received by residents, so we would
appeal to anyone who knows who is growing or supplying drugs
in their area to come forward to police.”
So far no one has been arrested, but police are actively
investigating to find those responsible.
