Appeal for information after attempted abduction

Detectives are appealing for information following an attempted abduction in Basildon.

Witness appeal

A 13-year-old girl was walking along Wash Road at 3.45pm on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 when a car pulled up alongside her and a man grabbed her arm and tried to pull her into the car.

The girl managed to wriggle free, hit the man and run off.

Investigating Officer, Dc Alex Gartshore, said: "This girl was in school uniform and had just got off a bus. She was walking past the Prince of Wales pub when this car pulled up alongside her.

"The teenager was able to push her attacker away before running off down an alleyway towards her nearby home.

"We’re not sure if there was anything sinister behind this incident which is why we’re looking to identify witnesses and the car driver. Thankfully, the victim was uninjured but was obviously left very shocked.”

The car driver is described as white and in his 20s. The car is thought to be dark in colour and possibly has electric windows.

Anyone with information in connection with this attempted abduction is urged to contact detectives at Basildon police station on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
