Tracey to turn spotlight on domestic abuse
Efforts to cut domestic abuse in Rochford have been boosted with
the appointment of the district’s first Domestic Abuse Reduction
Officer.

Tracey Schneider has joined Rochford District Council’s Community
Safety team in a role funded by the Rochford District Community
Safety Partnership (CSP).
She said: “My goal is to ensure that domestic abuse is
brought more into the public eye so that it can be identified,
acknowledged and dealt with as the serious community issue it
is.
“I am looking into reported and repeat cases of abuse and am in
the process of setting a system of monitoring statistics to give us
a better picture of the scale of the issue and so provide support,
guidance and information where it is most needed.”
Tracey is a Sergeant in the Special Constabulary, which first
fired her interest in the area of domestic abuse.
“I found it to be a far larger and more complex issue than I had
first believed,” she said.
Tracey is the contact point for residents and voluntary
organisations on all matters relating to domestic abuse and can be
contacted on 01702 318104.
The CSP is targeting a cut in the number of repeat incidents of
domestic abuse and also wants to see a 10 per cent increase in
reporting rates in the year to March 2011.
