Two men arrested in connection with series of bogus caller incidents

Two men have been arrested in connection with a series of bogus caller incidents in south Essex.

They were detained on suspicion of being involved in six incidents in the Brentwood area and others at Billericay, Wickford and Pitsea. Detectives are also examining possible links with a tenth incident at Lambourne End.

The two men, aged 34 and 35 and both from East London, were arrested by Metropolitan Police officers in the Redbridge area on the afternoon of Monday, July 23, 2012. They are also being questioned in connection with 11 similar incidents in the Metropolitan Police area.

Anyone who has been approached by bogus or suspicious callers in the past month and has not yet contacted police should call detectives at Basildon Target Offender Team on 101.
