Dog walker could be key witness in attempted rape investigation
Detectives are appealing for a dog walker to come forward as a
potential key witness to an attempted rape in Shoeburyness.

A teenage girl was walking through an alleyway near Shoebury
Park just after 5.30pm on Wednesday, October 24, 2012
when she was pushed to the ground.
The fall caused the girl, who lives locally, to black out and
she woke to find a young man on top of her.
She managed to push her attacker off and a dog walker then
passed and enquired about her welfare.
This man is described as black and aged around 50. He
was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and was walking a white
‘Staffy’.
A 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted rape
and released on police bail until Monday, February 25,
2012 pending further enquiries.
The dog walker is urged to contact detectives at Rayleigh’s
Sexual Offences Investigation Team on 101, Crimestoppers
anonymously on 0800 555111 or email the incident room at SOIT
