Five people arrested in connection with investigation in to death of Lee Balkwell
Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances
surrounding the death of Lee Balkwell in Upminster in July
2002.

On Wednesday, November 14, 2012, a 43-year-old man from Upminster
was arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter,
perverting the course of justice and perjury while a 66-year-old
man, a 63-year-old woman and a 49-year-old woman, all from
Upminster, were also arrested on suspicion of perverting the course
of justice and perjury as was a 38-year-old Southend man.
The arrests were made by detectives working under the direction of
Det Chief Supt Lee Catling from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime
Directorate (SCD) who has been investigating the circumstances
leading up to Mr Balkwell ’s death since August 2010.
All five people have been released on police bail until mid-January
2013 pending further enquiries.
