Police concerned for welfare of woman who made emergency call

A Chelmsford woman who contacted Essex Police on an emergency call in the early hours of Thursday, February 2, 2012 is being urged to get back in touch as officers are concerned for her welfare.

Police were contacted shortly after 1.30am by a woman who said that she was being assaulted by her ex-partner. However, she hung up soon afterwards.

She said that she was on Springfield Road. A search of the road and surrounding streets was conducted by officers, but they could find no trace of any woman in distress.

They have left a message on the woman’s mobile telephone number and sent her a text message, asking her to get in touch but officers have not heard from her.

This woman is urged to contact Essex Police on 999 or 101 so that officers can check on her welfare and ensure she is safe and well.
