Statement released in response to speeding allegations

Essex Police has released a statement following allegations about a speeding offence which is believed to have happened in 2003.

A spokesperson said: "Essex Police can confirm that two individuals were interviewed on Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at police stations in Essex and London in respect of allegations regarding a speeding offence.

"An investigation is ongoing in relation to the circumstances surrounding the issue of a Fixed Penalty Notice in 2003.

"It would be inappropriate for the police to discuss this matter any further in order to avoid prejudicing the investigation.

"Essex Police request that the press are mindful of this in their reporting."
