Five people arrested after man stabbed in Southend

Five people have been arrested after a man was stabbed as he walked home from a night out in Southend.

Officers believe that the 55-year-old man was stabbed several times at about 11pm on Sunday August 11, 2013 shortly after an attempt to rob him.

The victim, who is from the Southend area, was walking home from a bar in the Marine Parade area and was later found in Victoria Road with stab wounds.

Four men and a woman, all in their 20s and from the Southend area, have been arrested. The four men, two aged 22 and the others aged 23 and 24, have been released on police bail pending further enquiries until December 6, 2013. The woman has been released without charge.

Detectives want to hear from anyone who saw the attempted robbery or stabbing in either Victoria Road or nearby Manilla Road and Arnold Drive.

The injured man was taken to Southend Hospital before being transferred to the Royal London Hospital where his condition is serious but stable.
