Welcome by Assistant Chief Constable Sue Harrison

Now London 2012 is finally here excitement is mounting all over the UK. And Essex is no different.

On August 11 and 12, 2012 the county is privileged to be hosting the mountain bike event at Hadleigh Farm, a 550-acre site overlooking the Thames Estuary.

Around 19,000 spectators are expected to come to Hadleigh on each day of the event and officers from our 2012 Planning Team have been working with the London Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, local agencies and other emergency services for several years to help ensure it remains a safe and enjoyable event for residents and visitors to our county.

Take a few minutes to read some of the advice below to help make your Olympic experience the best it can be. We’ll be using this page to keep you up to date with our plans and advice for keeping you and your belongings safe throughout the world's biggest sporting event.
